SUMMARY:CinemaPalestino 2013 in Sheffield
DESCRIPTION:CinemaPalestino 2013 in Sheffield\n\nWe aim to hold our 5th ann
ual film festival for Palestine on 29th November - 1st December 2013. Cur
rently we have some award winning documentaries we will show\, including A
rt Violence and  A World Not ours.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nCinemaPalestino celebrat
es it’s 5th Year in Sheffield\n\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nTickets have just gone on
sale at Sheffield’s Showroom Cinema for this year’s CinemaPalestino Fi
lm Festival starting on 29th November 2013. This year promises to be one o
f the most exciting to date offering a feast of documentary and drama film
s ranging from the camps of Lebanon to the occupied territories of West Ba
nk and Gaza Strip\, exploring issues that affect us all - love\, home maki
ng\, and freedom - all under the shadow of a military occupation that dist
orts all aspects of daily life for the people of Palestine.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n
Recent years have seen a huge growth in Palestine’s film industry and Ci
nemaPalestino draws on some of the most recent examples\, opening with mul
 ti award-winning Art Violence (by Batoul Taleb\, Mariam Abu-Khaled &amp\;
Udi Aloni). Following the lead of their beloved director and activist\, Ju
liano Mer-Khamis\, murdered in 2011 outside the Freedom Theatre in the Wes
t Bank’s Jenin Refugee Camp\, a group of young Palestinian actors use th
eir imagination in an unpredictably brutal environment creating an artisti
 c rebellion\; a vivid and brave portrayal of a young\, active generation o
f Palestinians.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nSaturday’s programme combines some fascina
ting film shorts\, with the hard-hitting character driven documentary When
the Boys Return (directed by Tone Anderson) – which follows a group of
teenage boys joining a therapy group after being released from Israeli pri
sons\, with Ann Marie Jacir’s latest drama production\, When I Saw You -
“one of the best works to come out of the current explosion of filmmaki
ng in the Middle East” Indiewire.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThe festival ends on Sun
day with Flying Paper – co-produced with young filmmakers in Gaza\, foll
owing the uplifting story of youth on a quest to shatter the Guinness Worl
d record in the most kites ever flown!!! It is all rounded off with Mahdi
 Fleifel’s A World Not Ours an intimate\, and often humorous\, portrait o
f three generations of exile in the refugee camp of Ein el-Helweh\, in sou
thern Lebanon - a sensitive\, and illuminating study of belonging\, friend
ship\, and family in the lives of those for whom dispossession is the norm
 .\n\n \n\nCinemaPalestino\, now in it’s fifth year\, is a unique collab
oration between Sheffield Palestine Solidarity Campaign\, Yorkshire Palest
ine Cultural Exchange\, and Sheffield Showroom Cinema. Festival Tickets ar
