 Nakba: then and now – Day-School Conference – Saturday 14th May 2016
 \n\nJoin us at London’s Mander Hall for a Day-School Conference on the N
 akba: Then and Now.\n\nSpeakers include Prof. Nur Masalha\, Awad Abdelfatt
 ah and Ahmed Masoud\, with more to be announced and interactive workshop s
 essions held throughout the day.\n\nProf. Nur Masalha\, a Palestinian hist
 orian currently based at SOAS University of London\, will speak about the 
 history and meaning of the Nakba. Masalha was formerly Professor of Relig
 ion and Politics and Director of the Centre for Religion and History\, St
  Mary’s University\, London. He is the author of many books on Palesti
 ne-Israel.\n\nDr. Aimee Shalan will chair the plenary session. Shalan is
  Director of Friends of Birzeit University and Co-Director of Pressure Coo
 ker Arts. Previously\, she was Director of Advocacy at Medical Aid for P
 alestinians and Head of Education at the Council for Arab British Understa
 nding. She has a doctorate in the Politics of Palestinian Literature.\n\n
 Awad Abdelfattah is the General Secretary of the Palestinian National Dem
 ocratic Assembly\, or Balad\, who represent Palestinians with Israeli citi
 zenship in the Knesset\, the Israeli Parliament. Balad suffer ongoing po
 litical repression from the Israeli government.\n\nAhmed Masoud is an awa
 rd-winning writer\, director and academic. Born in Gaza\, Masoud is now ba
 sed in the UK\, and has written a number of plays and books\, including th
 e novel Vanished – The Mysterious Disappearance of Mustafa Ouda.\n\nWor
 kshops will be held on the following subjects:\n\nEducation (with Kiri Tun
