The university is currently inviting bids for its security services and the security company G4S are likely to be submitting a bid. However, G4S currently provide services which support Israel’s occupation of the West Bank which directly impact the lives of Palestinians. Students for Palestine and Southampton PSC have called upon the Vice Chancellor to exclude G4S from bidding for this contract on the basis of their involvement in human rights abuses and violations of international law. In this talk Michael Deas will provide details of the involvement of G4S in supporting the occupation. This will be followed by a shorter talk by Angus Geddes explaning the legal basis for excluding G4S from bidding for the contract on this basis. There will also be an opportunity for questions.
