BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:2.0 PRODID:-//wp-events-plugin.com//7.2.3.1//EN BEGIN:VEVENT UID:2187@palestinecampaign.org DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20180915 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20180916 DTSTAMP:20180913T153535Z URL:https://palestinecampaign.org/events/hsbc-day-of-action/ SUMMARY:HSBC: Stop Arming Israel - National Day of Action DESCRIPTION:Call out to all supporters of Palestinian human rights to take action around the country on 15th September against HSBC’s investments i n Israel’s Arms Trade.\n\nOver 35 actions are due to take place around t he country to accelerate the campaign for HSBC to end their holdings in ar ms companies like Elbit Systems\, BAE Systems\, and Boeing\, whose weapon s are used in the brutal attacks on Gaza and the rest of Palestine.\n\nHSB C holds over £800m worth of shares in\, and is involved in syndicated lo ans worth over £19bn to\, companies that sell weapons and military equipm ent to the Israeli government.\n\nIsrael has intensified its bombing campa igns on Gaza yet again in recent weeks\, and HSBC are a part of the chain of complicity. The attacks have been some of the most devastating since Is rael’s bombardment of Gaza four years ago\, when over 2200 Palestinians were killed in 51 days\, including over 500 children.  Among those tragic ally killed in the recent attacks\, were best friends Luay Kahil (16) and Amir al-Nimra (15) who took a selfie of themselves playing on an unfinishe d building in al-Katiba Square on 14 July\, shortly before they were hit d irectly by an Israeli air strike. They had hopes of going to University an d were\, “Like twin brothers”\, their mothers said.\n\nThese attacks h ave been supplementary to the ongoing massacres of Palestinian unarmed pro testers in Gaza\, where over 160 people have been killed by Israeli sniper s in the last few months of the Great Return March\, with thousands more s hot and seriously injured.\n\nThere have been actions and protests up and down the country at HSBC branches and it is important we grow the movement now to pressure HSBC in to ending their investments in companies making b illions from the sale of arms to Israel\, and to end their holdings in Isr aeli Arms Companies like Elbit\, who develop and sell their weapons based on them being “battle tested” on the besieged Gaza population.\n\nTake action at your local HSBC branch Saturday 15th September\, and join the c ampaign to expose and end HSBC’s investments in Israel’s Arms Trade.\n \nYou can also participate in the planned twitter storm for the #StopArmin gIsrael National Day of Action.
