An event by East London Unite Community, and Lydd London Solidarity Group:
To mark the launch of the Lydd London Solidarity Group, a partnership between East London Unite Community and the Al-Lydd 48 Charity Association, join this film screening of two films about Lydd, and online discussion with activists in the city.
The Nakba of Lod is a recent documentary made for Israel’s Social TV network, detailing the events of 1948 and the forced removal of most of Lydd’s population. Junction 48 is an award-winning feature film, starring and based on the life of Palestinian rap artist Tamer Nafar, who lives and is politically active in Lydd. Tamer will join other activists from Lydd in an online panel to discuss these films and to answer questions.
The event will be live-streamed on the YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCco8OkBE7Ahjfqo0ovAZsKg. Attendance is free, and supporters will be invited to contribute towards the establishment of a much-needed community centre in Lydd.
