SUMMARY:National Day of Action Against Annexation
DESCRIPTION:SATURDAY 4th JULY // DAY OF ACTION AGAINST ANNEXATION \n\n#Stop
Annexation #SanctionsNow #EndApartheid\n\nThe Israeli government has made
its intentions clear. Starting in July they plan to unilaterally annex lar
ge swathes of the illegally occupied West Bank\, declaring the territory a
n integral part of Israel proper. Annexation\, illegal under international
law\, is the forcible and unilateral acquisition of territory over which
it has no recognised sovereignty and to make it an integral part of the st
ate – in this case\, Israel.\n\nThis act would be the culmination of yea
rs of land theft\, displacement of Palestinians\, and illegal settlement o
f occupied Palestinian land. \n\nWhile solidifying its grip on Palestinia
n land\, Israel will continue to ramp up its system of institutionalised r
acist discrimination against the Palestinian people as a whole\, whether u
nder occupation\, as second-class citizens in Israel\, or in exile\, treat
ment that amounts to the crime of apartheid under international law. In th
is vein\, the Israeli government have already announced they will not gran
t Palestinians in annexed areas citizenship rights.\n\nThe international c
ommunity has a duty to respond to such egregious violations of internatio
nal law. Palestinian civil society has called for “effective action” b
y nation-states to stop annexation. This means applying international law
on trade with illegal Israeli settlements\, and enacting sanctions\, inclu
ding by placing a two-arms embargo on Israel. \n\nStand up on July 4th an
d call on the UK government to implement sanctions immediately to halt ann
exation. \n\nComplying with Coronavirus restrictions\, we are calling for
groups made up of no more than 6 people\, adhering to social distancing r
egulations\, to demonstrate by holding signs with the slogans Stop Annexat
ion\, Sanctions Now and End Apartheid. \n\nThis day of action is organise
