Online Cook-Along: A Taste of Ramadan

When

28/03/2021
12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Don’t miss this chance to learn about the many foods and customs around the month of Ramadan, featuring Palestinian chef Maha Salah! This event is raising money for PSC’s vital campaigning work, and is co-hosted by Zaytoun CIC.

Maha is a Palestinian chef and food blogger for Middle East Monitor. She is currently living in the UK – her fifth country – and her travels are heavily reflected in her food. She carries a little bit of everywhere with her in her recipes, and is not afraid of merging flavours and cuisines to create innovative yet traditional recipes.

Once you have successfully registered for the event, you will receive an ingredients list and Zoom link via email. Vegetarian option available.

A note about the event from Maha
Every country, city, and even family has their own traditions when it comes to the holidays, and Ramadan is no exception! Many countries usually have a soup and salad on the table every night, and in Palestine, we have freekeh soup several times throughout the month. One staple in my home is Sambousek, which I feel my Ramadan table isn’t complete without! It is very similar to samosas, with a slightly different dough, and I love to stuff mine with cheese. Finally, we can’t end our night without something sweet, and I always crave my grandmother’s Kaykat Joz Alhind, or coconut cake. It is a one bowl wonder that is ready in no time! I am looking forward to sharing all three of these recipes with you, as well as insight into our culture, practices and traditions during this special month!
