Films about Palestine are taking the world by storm this year. Two were short-listed for Oscars (The Gatekeepers and 5 Broken Cameras, which we screened at the Cornerhouse in April) and in May Palestinian director Hany Abu-Assad’s Omar won the “Jury Prize” at the Cannes Film Festival.
Bristol is playing a leading role in getting Palestinian films out to British audiences. As our contribution to the 2013 Frome Festival, Frome Friends of Palestine are delighted to be hosting Bristol film-maker Conor McCormack, who will be presenting and discussing his innovative docu-drama 7 Stones, together with David Owen, director of the Bristol Palestinian Film Festival, now in its third successful year.
