DESCRIPTION:70 Years of Nakba - A Programme of Palestinian Shorts + Post-sc
 reening discussion\n\nJoin us for a diverse and thought-provoking programm
 e of 9 short films by both young and established Palestinian filmmakers. T
 he first part of the programme reflects directly on the events of the Nakb
 a (the 1948 Catastrophe) and the dream of return through animation\, oral 
 testimony and digital technology. The second part explores contemporary ex
 periences\, through traditional documentary\, docu-drama and the film essa
 y.\n\nThe screenings will be introduced by Dr Anandi Ramamurthy\, Sheffiel
 d Hallam University and followed by a post-screening discussion with Dr Ru
 th Aburashed\, University of Manchester. The event is organised in collabo
 ration with Cinema Palestino Manchester and (Creative Interruptions\, AHR

 iini is a Palestinian survivor from Deir Yassin\, west of Jerusalem. He re
 counts his life in the village before the Nakba and tells how he survived

 grandmother\, returns to her hometown Haifa through Google Maps Streetview

 ilms were produced by Palestinian directors 20 years after the signing of 
 the Oslo Accords in 1993 and are part of a larger collection of short film
 s called Suspended Time. The films present what feels like a suspended rea
 lity of unfulfilled dreams to capture feelings of fragmentation\, loss\, h
