 Z) \, followed by a discussion.\n\n“Patu” is a startling documentary 
 record of the mass civil disobedience that took place throughout New Zeal
 and during the winter of 1981\, in protest against a South African rugby t
 our.  A landmark in New Zealand's film history\, it marks a moment when N
 ew Zealand was torn in two by  the 1981 Springbok rugby tour over the is
 sue of racism and indigenous rights.  With its highly-charged images of v
 iolent clashes between police and anti-tour marchers\, Patu firmly sided 
 with the later\,  and is passionate\, activist filmmaking at its most com
 pelling.\n\nMaori filmmaker Merata Mita was the first woman to direct a fe
 ature-length documentary in New Zealand\, also directing the feature film
