Pluto Press, The Centre for Palestine Studies and the London Middle East Institute invite you to the launch of:
UNFREE in Palestine
Registration, Documentation and Movement Restriction
Authors Nadia Abu Zahra (University of Ottawa) and Adah Kay (Cass Business School) will be discussing their new book Unfree in Palestine.
“After this book, no one could fail to understand the centrality of these mechanisms in the occupation of the Palestinian lands” – John Torpey, Professor of Sociology at the Graduate Center, City University New York
“A bold and uncompromising account of mass denationalisation from both ends of the telescope ” – Jane Caplan, Professor of Modern European History, St Antony’s College, Oxford
Set within the wider context of global examples, Unfree in Palestine is a meticulous and detailed expose of the web of bureaucracy, discrimination, blacklisting and induced transfer that Israeli authorities have employed to control the Palestinian population and restrict Palestinian movement over the years.
The event will be chaired by Gilbert Achcar (SOAS) and will be followed by a drinks reception and book signing
