Professor Qumsiyeh was born and raised in Beit Sahour and has been for all his life in the forefront of political activism, non-violent direct action and the struggle to end the Occupation and
establish equal human rights for all Palestinians. Mazin has written four important books covering both his scientific work and his experiences as an activist: ‘Bats of Egypt’ (1985), ‘Mammals of the Holy Land’ (1996), ‘Sharing the Land of Canaan’ (2004) and ‘Popular Resistance in Palestine: A History of Hope and Empowerment’ (2011).
Mazin is co-founder of the AcademicsFor Justice.org and BoycottIsraeliGoods.org campaigns and co-founder, national treasurer and media coordinator of Al-Awda, the Palestine Right to Return Coalition (http://al-awda.org). He is also a member of other human rights groups including Amnesty, Peace action, Human Rights Watch and ACLU.
