Join us for a vital eye-witness account with Professor Nick Maynard about Gaza hospitals under attack. He is a Consultant Surgeon and Associate Professor of Surgery in Oxford.

Since his first visit to Palestine in 2008, Nick has been visiting Gaza regularly since 2010. Each October, he leads a group of Oxford consultants specialising in surgery, medicine, paediatrics and obstetrics to Gaza to teach medical students.

Nick also works with Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP UK) as part of their surgical team, travelling into Gaza to carry out and teach advanced upper gastrointestinal surgery for cancer and benign diseases.

In December 2023, he led the first UK medical mission into Gaza, working at Al Aqsa Hospital for two weeks. He returned twice in 2024, and spent a further four weeks working at Nasser Hospital at the end of July 2025.

Nick continues to be a vocal advocate for Gaza through media interviews, lectures, meetings at the United Nations, and discussions with politicians in Westminster and Washington.

In 2025, he was awarded the Humanitarian Medal by the UK Government for his humanitarian work in Gaza, receiving the award from King Charles at Buckingham Palace
