| Andrew still supports a two-state solution and believes that the EU should support the Palestinian bid for statehood. During this term of parliament Andrew opposed the ACAA agreement in the Foreign Affairs Committee: Andrew has no problem with it applying inside Israel’s pre-1967 borders, but does not believe that it should apply to the occupied territories. As the Israeli government declined to give the Commission the necessary guarantees on this point Andrew voted against. At the same time, Andrew believes that the EU has not fully leveraged its contribution to the Palestinian Authority, and is pressing the Commission to ensure that any possibility of funding being channelled to ineligible beneficiaries or terrorist activities is removed. |
