AWARENESS RAISING AND ACTION FOR PALESTINE EVENT!

@ Jobs, Education and Training (JET), 284 – 286 Normanton Road, Derby

Please come along and enjoy:

A panel of speakers who have been to and campaign for Palestine which includes:

  • Ava Hunt has worked on a new theatre piece which uses multi-media and is a one woman performance of “The Kites Are Flying” based on Michael Morpurgo’s book for children. It was performed at the Nottingham Playhouse and Derby Theatre. The story is of a Television Reporter who makes friends with a Palestinian boy, Said, in a land where friendship has no barriers. The piece used footage filmed in the West Bank and was a
companion piece to "I'm No Hero" and by the same artistic team. The development of this project also included drama workshops with children in multi cultural schools in Derby City, and travelling to the West Bank to work with children in refugee camps.
  • Musheir El-Farra is a political and human rights activist and a public speaker who has worked for justice in Palestine.  Musheir is the Chair of Sheffield Palestine Solidarity Campaign in Britain. He frequently contributes articles to Arabic and English News Papers. Musheir has written a book entitled “Gaza, When the Sky rained white fire”. The book details the horrific stories of 17 Palestinian families who have lost their loved ones during Operation Cast Lead and with that loss their memories, hopes, and dreams were shattered.
  • San’aa Sultan is a young woman who has achieved a lot already by her young age and never ceases to impress with her knowledge of global injustices and oppression, not to mention her passion, maturity and commitment. San’aa is a Kashmiri student activist, radio presenter and poet heavily involved with the freedom movement of the Palestinian people.
