Can a democracy impose an indefinite military occupation on another people while retaining democratic values?

Since Israel occupied the territories of the West Bank and Gaza Strip in the 1967 war, the military has imposed thousands of orders and laws, established military courts, sentenced hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, enabled half a million Israeli “settlers” to move to the Occupied Territories and developed a system of long-term jurisdiction by an occupying army that is unique in the entire world. The Law In These Parts explores this Apartheid legal system through testimonies of the military legal professionals who were its architects. The film invites the viewer to ‘judge’ the testimony of these military judges, yet never lets the viewer forget the place of Palestinian experience at the centre of this brutal system.    Directed by Ra’anan Alexandrowicz. See the film trailer.

Followed by a discussion. All welcome!
