Hackney PSC present the Village Under the Forest a flim by Mark J Kaplan and Heidi Grunebaum to mark NAKBA week, commemorating the violent eviction of Palestinians from their land in 1948, and the occupation that continues to this day.
Events include a showing of the documentary “The Village Under the Forest” and discussion. The film depicts the disillusion of a diaspora Jewish woman on discovering that the forestation project her family has contributed to over many years is, in reality, the means by which the evidence of the destroyed Palestinian village of Lubna has been covered up. Such efforts to hide and distort the truth have been systematic in the history of Israel/ Palestine.
