Edale station 10.50 am
A small delegation of women from Sheffield were due to go to Gaza at the beginning of October, and jointly with friends and comrades in Gaza were to go on a family solidarity walk, in support of the right to roam, and the right to learn and to play. This followed a 268 mile fund raising walk on the Pennine Way in May this year, raising nearly £2,000 for the Palestine Women’s Scholarship Fund and Sheffield PSC’s Children’s Projects in Gaza.
However, the renewed siege on Gaza, with all borders shut off, has meant that the trip has had to be postponed until next year.
We would like to invite you to join us on a ‘RIGHT 2 ROAM’ SOLIDARITY WALK WITH GAZA (long and short walk options) on Saturday 12 October, from 10.50 am, and for solidarity TEA & CAKES at Cooper’s Cafe between 3/3.30 and 5 pm: at the top of Edale Village, where both walks will finish. (If you cannot come on the walk just come for tea and cakes) Meet in the car park at the back of Edale Station (where both the long and short walk will leave together) at 10.50, and/or in Cooper’s Cafe at 3.30 until 5 pm.
Bring Palestinian flags, wear solidarity T-shirts/ kaffiyehs etc! We will be sending solidarity photos to Gaza, and vice versa (our friends & comrades in Gaza are walking there at the same time as we are). Everyone welcome.
Bring a picnic lunch. In the event of bad weather a shorter/lower walk will be organised, meeting at the same place. For further information &/or to let us know you are coming please email [email protected]
