In response to the escalating crisis in Gaza, PSC has published an open letter in The Morning Star, calling for the immediate lifting of the blockade and allowing of imports and exports; for the UK government to abide by their obligations under international law to end the siege; and for the removal by Israel of all obstacles to the exercise of human rights by Palestinians in Gaza, including the right to travel and trade.

Among the signatories are Brian Eno, Bella Freud, Jeremy Irons, Ken Loach, Caroline Lucas MP,  Andy Slaughter MP, Miriam Margolyes, Ilan Pappe, John Pilger, Benjamin Zephaniah and many others.

Over 6,000 people signed the PSC Gaza petition so far. And across the country PSC local branches held events and vigils to mark this sombre occasion, and to draw attention to the continued suffering of Palestinians in Gaza.

The 2014 military onslaught may have ended, but the 10 year long illegal Israeli blockade is still in place. Gaza is currently facing its worst humanitarian crisis since the siege began.

Electrical blackouts leave people with power for just a few hours a day, meaning that wastewater goes untreated and hospitals can’t function. The blockade has also caused a severe shortage in medicine, with over 34% of essential drugs completely out of stock.

Gaza is on the brink of a man-made humanitarian catastrophe which is entirely preventable. The solution is to lift the blockadeYou can help by signing our Gaza petition!
