| I am extremely concerned about the situation in Palestine, and as a Member of the European Parliament’s Palestine delegation I’ve worked hard to promote peace and an end to the conflict. Israel’s obligations under international law remain unmet and the blockage on Gaza continues. There has been no progress on illegal settlements and Israel continues to build and appropriate land. The holding of minors in prison also remains an issue on which progress urgently needs to be made, as well the problem of illegal settlement goods being imported into the EU. Furthermore, I believe that Palestine should be supported in its efforts to gain UN statehood. If re-elected, I will continue to do all I can to help bring a just peace to the region and to stand up for human rights. |
