Vigil for Gaza: One year on
Friday 10th July, 5.30-7.30pm,
Richmond Terrace, opposite Downing Street, London

We invite you to join in a vigil to remember the Palestinians killed in Israel’s massacre last summer.
We will be reading out the names of the children killed last year, and inviting you to lay your flowers in remembrance of all killed. If you wish, you can also write messages to lay down, including the names and ages of some of those killed.

You can see the names and ages of Palestinians killed between July 8th and August 26th, during Israel’s assault, and those who died in the following months from their wounds on this website.

Please bring flowers to remember the dead.
By signing our petition and attending our vigil (or an event near you) we can send a global message to government: Israel’s attacks must end, Israel’s blockade must end, the occupation must end. Send the message to government – support peace and justice for Palestinians.
If you are able to help before or at the event please contact [email protected]

Debates in Parliament this week: summaries
This week, the week marking the anniversary of Israel’s assault on Gaza, key debates took place in Parliament on Monday and Wednesday. MPs remembered the tragic events of last year, and discussed the role the UK is playing, and importantly in regard to the UK-Israel arms trade. Kerry McCarthy, Labour frontbencher, quoted a figure from PSC’s own report, Arming Apartheid (see more information below) – that the U.K approved £4 million of arms sales to Israel in the four months following the attack on Gaza last summer. Many MPs urged the Government to recognise Palestine, and a number of new MPs contributed passionately to the debate in support of Gaza – a positive sign for the future.
Read the summaries of the debates here.
Stop Arming Israel Campaign launched
Arming Apartheid report
PSC has just launched its StopArmingIsrael.org website jointly with War on Want and Campaign Against the Arms Trade (CAAT), to coincide with our new report, Arming Apartheid. The report reveals that the latest official government figures show that the UK approved £4 million worth of arms sales to Israel in the four months that followed last year’s bombardment of Gaza. If you want to read more about the report you can read about it in the Independent, Maan News, Newsweek, Huffpost, Mondoweiss and Al Quds (Arabic).
