It is likely that G4S will be bidding for an £80 million security contract with the BBC. Given their future Government contracts are in jeopardy following their latest debacle, it is likely G4S will be desperate to win this contract. Help us make sure that they don’t!
Ask the BBC to say NO to G4S because:
  1. G4S services Israeli prisons to which Palestinian prisoners are illegally transferred in serious violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention and also, in the case of child prisoners, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
  2. Palestinian prisoners – including children – are routinely subjected to violence and torture at G4S serviced prisons in Israel and Palestine.
Israel’s ethnic cleansing Prawer Plan
Sir Bob Russell
Sir Bob Russell MP (Parliamentary copyright images are reproduced with the permission of Parliament)
Last week in the House of Commons, Sir Bob Russell MP exposed Israel’s plan to ethnically cleanse tens of thousands of Palestinian Bedouin from their homes and shunt them into townships. This is to free up the use of land for new developments for Israeli Jewish citizens. 1,300 of you wrote to the Foreign Office to ask them to act against Israel’s plan – many thanks! The response from Middle East Minister, Alistair Burt, indicates talk but absolutely no action against Israel’s plans. Please write to him again (or for the first time) and ask him to take tough action against Israel if they go ahead with this violation of human rights.
Film maker backs boycott & refuses Israel invitation
In a series of tweets, Mira Nair – the Indian film maker behind the Reluctant Fundamentalist, Monsoon Wedding and Salaam Bombay – revealed that she was rejecting an invitation to the Haifa International Film Festival because she was respecting the Palestinian call to Boycott. She stated: “I will go to Israel when the walls come down. I will go to Israel when occupation is gone. I will go to Israel when the state does not privilege one religion over another. I will go to Israel when Apartheid is over….. I will go to Israel, soon” Her principled action has been applauded internationally.
