Students are rising up:
Across the world, students are setting up encampments in solidarity with Palestinians facing Israel’s genocide, demanding an end to their universities’ complicity.
PSC’s research has found that British universities are complicit in Israel’s ongoing genocide: they invest nearly £4.3 billion in companies which fund, service or arm Israel.
We are demanding that our universities divest, and end their complicity now. We, the students, have the power to make change.
These encampments are already making a difference: universities are being forced to listen to them and take action. Trinity College Cambridge, the university’s richest college, was forced to divest from arms companies after student pressure. York University has confirmed that it no longer holds any arms investments. It’s time to take action: is your university next?
Students – join your local encampment, and if there isn’t one, think about setting one up:
- Research your university’s complicity using our University Complicity Database
- Gather support – hold a stall on campus, an open meeting, or an event to get a core group of students together to take action. Download a guide to setting up apartheid off campus campaigns at university here.
- Build power – hold a rally or other action demanding your university end their complicity in genocide by divesting from all. Get in touch with us if you need materials like flags, or print your own posters and placards here and here.
- Know your rights – check out our resources here, and get in touch with us if you need any more advice or support
- Spread the word! Tag us/ask to collaborate on social media (@palestinesolidarityuk and @pscupdates) or directly message us if you want us to share your photos.
More resources:
- Check out our legal resources/advice – collating information from the European Legal Support Centre, Green and Black Cross, Liberty and more!
- Use our template motion for your Students’ Union on divestment – template motion here.
- Find your local PSC branch and get in touch – they are a key place of support in the community, and will often have experience in running rallies etc.
- Barclays is a current BDS priority target in this country – find out more information about the campaign here; and a template SU motion to get your SU to commit to not banking on apartheid is here. Put up leaflets, posters and stickers around your university to spread information about the campaign to Boycott Barclays – download here, here and here.
